We are finally getting things in order at our new house in Mexico. We have painted the downstairs walls, cleaned the tile...and there is alot!! I finally got into the boxes, and hung the pictures, and placed the furniture. It is starting to feel like home, a little. I promised pictures of the house when we were done, so here they are.
This is the front gate to the house. In Mexico, you must ring
the doorbell on the outside, and someone has to come
to the gate to let you in. It is rude to open a gate
without permission, and go to a front door an knock!
Everything in Mexico is made out of concrete, stone and tile!
These are the steps leading to the front door...they are really
nice, except in the rain...very slippery!!
This is the front hallway. The front door is made out of
stone and stained glass. It also has bars across it for safety.
I love the door...had to show it twice!
This is the living area. As you can see we have tile
floors. The whole house has tile floors, and tiled bathrooms!
This is alot different than the States, something I will have
to get used to. It's hard to keep it clean 24-7!! I've been told that
living here in San Miguel people expect that your floors will not
be clean...it's just the Mexican way. Wow! I have some changing
to do!!
This is the neatest thing! I have two of these mop stations
built right into the closets. One upstairs and one down.
No need for buckets ladies!! On the left side it has an
area to fill the mop water. When done, you can drain the
water right out. The right side is to store your mops!
Love this!!
This is the dining area.
The entrance between the kitchen and dining area is
separated by a brick arch. It is very unique !
This is the kitchen area. Tile covers the walls! Notice the bars
on the windows. That is very common in this Mexico.
Our back yard in enclosed with huge walls. Most Mexican yards
are built this way to keep thieves out. Some walls have huge
spikes or glass spikes on top of the wall.
This just shows the huge wall behind the house, and the
separation between our neighbors yard. We have a small
area of grass for the animals.
Balcony's are very popular in Mexico. We have two in the
upstairs bedrooms. Another unique thing here are rooftop
gardens and sitting area's. If you have a flat roof, you will
have a sitting area, and a great view of the city.
That is the downstairs, and outside of our home. Our next project will be upstairs in the bedrooms. When we are finished I will post the pictures. We are so blessed to be in our home here in this community. I feel very safe here!! We give God the glory, and praise for all that he has done. Thank you for your support and prayers, they mean alot!!
