Independence day is September 16Th. Mexico is celebrating their 200 years of Independence from Spain. I'm told that every September, San Miguel is festooned in green, white and red. It is especially colorful this year because of the bicentennial. Everywhere you go you will see flags, streamers and colors of green, white and red. It is really pretty. They will be having celebrations and fireworks go off a lot during the day and evening. Some of the celebrations for the month are Horse parades, Bull fights, Bull runs through the streets,(yes, you saw that right! I'm told that the block the streets and the bulls run wild. Some people have gotten seriously hurt. I think Scott and I will stay clear of that event), light and sound shows, and a fair are just some of the activities of the month. We have already seen a lot of people coming in from all over Mexico to celebrate this time in history. As we were driving around town today a horse parade came through the center of town. It went on for about two miles. An array of beautiful horses lined the streets. It was such a neat thing to see. I will be posting more pictures of some of the events taking place during the bicentennial celebration.
